The Photoclean solution: powerful air filtration technology
The HEPA filter, widely used for air decontamination, filters microparticles with remarkable efficiency, making it the solution of choice for manufacturers. This device performs what is known as “absolute filtration” by trapping even the finest pollutants, with a purification rate of over 99.98%. However, this high efficiency comes with certain limitations.
Due to its pressure drop, the HEPA-type system results in very high energy consumption, which will increase over time because it traps a large number of inert particles, further increasing the pressure drop and energy consumption. The HEPA filter traps all inert particles and, by extension, microorganisms. Since humidity is ubiquitous in the food processing industry, there is a significant risk of recontamination of the filters and, consequently, the air. Furthermore, the air filtration units remain, even today, quite large. This poses a challenge for smaller facilities and is a source of concern during installation.
