Cleanrooms:
Discover the benefits of the Photoclean solution
Cleanrooms are, by definition, spaces where the number of airborne particles is controlled; where efforts are made to maintain the ambient temperature, humidity, and pressure at constant levels so that no microorganisms or particles can enter or leave the room. Frequently used in many industries (pharmaceutical, food industry, chemical, cosmetics, biotechnology, medical, etc.), these controlled-atmosphere rooms do, however, have the drawback of being particularly expensive and restrictive.
For this reason, the customized air decontamination solution offered by Photoclean represents an advantageous alternative for companies and industrial groups. Our UV disinfection models and units allow you to enjoy all the benefits of a cleanroom without the drawbacks of a particulate-controlled cleanroom. Find out how…
What are the distinctive features of a cleanroom?
The principle behind a cleanroom is to create an enclosed space where cleanliness can be strictly controlled to prevent contamination of equipment or products, for example. Most often, this involves controlling the dust level (that is, the concentration of inert particles), as well as humidity, temperature, and pressure.
This makes it possible to create a sterile room, with the exception that cleanrooms are not used exclusively in hospitals: they are frequently used in the manufacturing of a wide variety of products that require this type of environment for safety reasons.
Traditionally, these are referred to as particulate-controlled cleanrooms because it is their particle concentration that determines the classification of these rooms, which are categorized into several levels ranging from ISO 1 to ISO 9 based on the number of particles present and their size. The lower the classification, the lower the particle concentration… and therefore the better the protection.
A microbiological cleanroom with Photoclean:
Real benefits
While the standards governing cleanroom classification are based on particle concentration, setting up a conventional cleanroom is particularly costly.
In fact, the HEPA filtration system used targets inert particles (dust suspended in the air) in order to indirectly remove the contaminants that can adhere to them. However, on average, there is 1 microbiological contaminant for every 1,000 inert particles!
As a result, the filtration systems used are particularly energy-intensive and generally cumbersome (large in size, noisy, etc.). They cause a significant pressure drop, which leads to high annual costs. Furthermore, most cleanrooms are installed in small spaces and are therefore not well-suited for large rooms (> to 500 m³).
For this reason, Photoclean offers solutions for setting up a microbiological cleanroom ( including cleanrooms for the food industry) using its modular UV air decontamination system, which consists of modules and terminal units.
UV Technology
In fact, our devices directly target microbiological and chemical contaminants to eliminate them using the principle of photolysis, a natural chemical reaction induced by UV-C rays.
Compatibility
No more need for expensive high-efficiency filters or major renovations to your facilities: our universal air decontamination modules are compatible with all air handling units, and we can also provide you with freestanding or mobile units (for ceiling or floor installation), or even a high-efficiency, energy-efficient air handling unit, depending on the layout of your space and your needs.
Custom Solution
The dimensions of our standalone modules can be customized based on the required airflow, but are in any case much smaller than those of an absolute filtration system (on average one-third the size), allowing for simple and seamless integration into your work environment. Most importantly, the pressure drop is minimal, and the number of air changes per hour is much lower.
Economical
This allows you to realize real savings while benefiting from continuous, effective decontamination of up to 97%.
Ultimately, you get all the benefits of a cleanroom without the drawbacks of a particulate-controlled room.
