Coronavirus Disinfection for Businesses

Commercial Disinfection and the Coronavirus: Specific Challenges

During this pandemic, preventing the spread of the virus is essential, especially in the workplace. With conventional air treatment systems, balancing workplace disinfection with coronavirus prevention poses certain technical challenges.
Discover PhotoClean’s innovative solutions to combat biocontamination in your facilities.

Air Handling Units and the Coronavirus

To conserve energy, most conventional dual-flow air handling units draw clean air from one room and recirculate it into another. The problem: the energy recovery systems built into these air handling units can harbor and spread pathogens, including the COVID-19 virus.

Absolute or HEPA filters, which are extremely fine, can filter out the coronavirus, which has a particle size of 0.1 microns. But these filters have a drawback: the finer the filtration, the greater the pressure drop (which means the pressure exerted on the air is higher). Many air handling units cannot accommodate this type of filter because they are unable to compensate for the pressure drop.

Conversely, the technology developed by PhotoClean makes it possible to trap viable particles in order to destroy them and inactivate their ability to replicate, with virtually no pressure drop.

The PhotoClean Air Treatment Solution for the Workplace

Our purification modules are compatible with all air handling units and air treatment systems. This means you won’t need to make any major modifications to your facilities—which is good news for your budget. Speaking of savings, our equipment combines a compact design with controlled energy consumption, without compromising its effectiveness.

In practical terms, PhotoClean air decontamination solutions prevent the COVID-19 virus from circulating within the air handling unit and spreading throughout your facilities. Our modules allow you to operate heat recovery units without the risk of them becoming reservoirs for the virus…

Air Decontamination: Made in France

PhotoClean has specialized in industrial air purification since 2005. Our patented process combines the use of a UV lamp with a media that enhances the rays’ effectiveness. Our equipment is manufactured entirely in-house at our facilities in the Lyon region—a global first.

But our services go beyond the design of high-performance, cost-effective equipment. We offer a comprehensive solution, from auditing your business to maintaining your systems, regardless of your industry.

Our air treatment modules achieve a decontamination rate of over 95% and can handle very large air volumes (60,000 m³ and more). Depending on your needs, our equipment is available in fixed or mobile versions, with humidity and temperature control, among other features. It can also regulate positive or negative pressure in your facilities.
