Air Decontamination at a Loading Dock - Pharmacy

Problem Statement

Contamination control is a constant concern in the pharmaceutical industry. Microbiological, particulate, and even chemical contamination are the types of contaminants encountered in the production environment. Contamination begins as soon as raw materials enter the facility and must be controlled throughout the entire production chain. Until now, the only solution available to manufacturers was to filter the air, treating microbiological contaminants as particles or as substances carried by particles.

However, in many cases, existing air-handling systems cannot raise the filtration level to absolute filtration—the only method capable (at the cost of a high number of air changes) of ensuring effective particulate decontamination.

However, not all areas of the company require an extremely high level of particulate filtration. On the other hand, controlling microbiological contamination (bacteria, mold, yeast, viruses, etc.) and/or chemical contamination (VOCs, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, etc.) is an ongoing requirement.

Photoclean Quartz therefore installed two Compact AirPur 5400 units at the customer’s site for a 700 m³ room.

To distribute the air throughout the room, we installed fabric ducts.

The installation was completed in a single day without requiring any major specialized work or modifications to the existing system.

Rapid and long-lasting decontamination of the room. This can be achieved without changing work habits, in a room filled with cardboard boxes and without positive pressure.
