Airborne transmission:
A solution tailored to your facilities with PhotoClean
Airborne transmission is responsible each year for a large number of infections in the workplace (across all sectors) and in hospitals, with significant human and financial consequences.
With Photoclean, a French specialist in industrial UV air decontamination, you benefit from a comprehensive solution, designed specifically for you, for continuous UV disinfection, regardless of the size and layout of your facilities.
What is airborne contamination, and what causes it?
Airborne contamination is the transmission through the air of bacteria, viruses, and microbiological contaminants attached to inert particles (dust) suspended in a confined space. It is often linked to the activity taking place (production, processing, packaging, etc.) or to human occupancy of the premises (at least in part).
In fact, our skin and respiratory tracts contain a multitude of microorganisms that we release in the form of droplets when we talk, eat, yawn, and so on. These droplets quickly turn into fine particles that remain suspended in the air for hours. It is estimated that while awake, we produce more than 5 million particles per minute!
In addition, microorganisms present in the air (bacteria, viruses, yeasts, etc.) feed on the particles they come into contact with. These particles can then release Volatile Organic Compounds (also known as VOCs), which are often malodorous.
Since most of these particles are very fine, we easily breathe them in without even realizing it if there is no adequate air treatment system and insufficient indoor air exchange.
Contamination has many consequences: infections and diseases, as well as spoiled products in the food industry. The health, financial, and human costs are therefore significant.
Effective and Cost-Effective UV Decontamination Thanks to Photoclean’s Expertise
As we have seen, the airborne transmission of contaminants is inherent to human activity and occupancy. One-time decontamination methods—such as disinfection via misting, fumigation, or ozone—cannot therefore be effective in the long term.
In fact, these surface disinfection techniques are carried out while the premises are still empty, but as soon as employees or users return to the premises and/or operations resume, contamination is bound to resume.
Hence the importance of choosing a solution tailored to your business.
For this reason, Photoclean offers a unique UV air decontamination solution that continuously eliminates pathogens (microorganisms and VOCs) while adapting to your specific premises.
After conducting a comprehensive audit of your facilities to assess the layout of the space as well as the various challenges you face, our engineering department will guide you toward the most suitable products from our lineup (universal modules compatible with all air handling units, standalone units, etc.) and custom-manufactures them in our Lyon production facilities to precisely meet your needs. We also provide you with layout plans and coordinate with your project manager to facilitate installation.
Unlike absolute filters (the most commonly used solution for air decontamination), our technology is not designed to trap contaminants and store them (which can lead to further contamination if the filters are not changed regularly), but to eliminate them by destroying their ability to replicate.
In fact, our units are much more energy-efficient because they exert much less pressure on the air, and their size is also more manageable—even for very large spaces. Most importantly: at a lower cost, efficiency remains the same, so you enjoy better air quality and drastically reduce the risks associated with contamination. Since our technology also targets VOCs, odor problems are eliminated.
